For the past two days I haven’t been wearing makeup because I ran out of foundation and there’s really no point in doing the rest without it. Tonight is my leaver’s ball so I figured I’d better get some quickly! Of course, I went into Boots in search of a foundation and ended up coming out with a load of stuff that I didn’t need but looked mega cute so I just had to buy them!
Usually, I use a Rimmel foundation in the lightest shade, and frankly, it’s probably still too dark. This time I went for the Maybelline ‘Fit Me’ foundation in ‘Natural Ivory’. I’ve tried it tonight for the ball and it’s gone on absolutely flawlessly. It advertises itself as matte and poreless and it doesn’t lie! As a self-conscious sufferer of acne, I can confidently say that this foundation makes my skin look great! What’s even better is that a little bit goes a long way! At £5.99 it’s a great little buy, but with my employee discount I got it for £5.25 which is even better!
Still browsing the makeup stands I come across the Sleek selection. We don’t have this at the branch that I work at, so I was completely drawn in! As Sleek is classed as a luxury brand, I feared that their prices we’re going to be a little steeper… I was wrong! I was gobsmacked at how affordable it is! I was checking out the lip products and found some Matte Me liquid lipsticks and picked one up in the shade ‘Velvet Slipper’ and I grabbed a lip liner in ‘Lingerie’ that matches perfectly. I’ve also tried these out tonight and they’re incredible. The shade is a sexy vampy shade and the brush creates smooth lines and the liner doesn’t allow bleeding which gives it a sharp matte finish! To compare it to a high end product, it’s similar to Kylie Jenner’s lip kit in shade Kourt K and it’s a fraction of the price! The Sleek liquid lipstick and liner should be £4.99 each, but are currently on a buy one get on half price offer at Boots so it’s an even bigger save!
I’m a sucker for browsing whilst I’m queuing and I just had to buy the Imperial Leather marshmallow shower cream because it smells absolutely amazing! I’m going to be using this in the bath at the weekend and I can’t wait! It should have been £1 but I had a 10% off offer on my boots app and my discount card made it only 69p! Who can feel guilty at spending 69p to smell like marshmallows?!
After my purchase I received a No7 voucher for £5 of No7 skincare, and I’ve actually been after a night cream for a while because my skin is a mess at the minute. I’ve decided to try one of the cheaper ones for the time being to see if they suit me and so, I’ve gone for the Beautiful Skin night cream for normal/dry skin! It should have been £13.50 but with the voucher and discount I got it for £5.47. I’m going to use it for a couple of weeks and I’ll let you know how I’m getting on with it!
Finally, I’ve been gifted some Babyliss mini straighteners. I get ready in my room and I’m way too lazy to brush my hair most days, let alone go downstairs to get the GHD’s; so these are ideal to keep in my room and to take on holiday etc. Only issue is that they don’t get quite hot enough to properly straighten your hair, they’re a bit half-hearted and can leave your hair still wavey in places. Perhaps that isn’t a terrible thing though; yeah maybe they don’t do their job perfectly, but they can create a beachy, messy hairstyle pretty easily!
Tomorrow, you’ll be getting another blog post from me about my leaver’s ball outfit and how the event was! See you then!
