I mentioned in a previous post that I adore the Lush Lip Scrubs, particularly the Bubblegum one. As winter approaches, bringing sore, chapped lips with it, I wanted to have a go at making some lip scrubs of my own. Since coconut oil is said to be an absolute saviour and was summers must have beauty product, I’ll be using it as the moisturising element of my scrub. Other ingredients consist simply of sugar, honey and lemon juice, coinciding with the fact it’s flu season, and honey/lemon combos always make you feel better.
So, you will need:
- Coconut oil
- Lemon juice
- Cup/bowl to mix in
This is so easy to make. There’s not even any point in breaking it down for you.
I made 5 small tubs of lip scrub, so I used roughly 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and added the sugar until it created the consistency I was after. You need it to feel very grainy, but still quite soft. From there, a couple drops of lemon juice and a dollop of honey – give it a good mix and then fill up the containers. Pop them in the fridge to harden and then pull them out 5 minutes before use.
Voilà, done; you won’t have to suffer with dry, chapped lips all winter! You could even make some up with different flavours and hand them out as little inexpensive, handmade Christmas gifts!
