December can sometimes be quite gloomy. The weather is rubbish, the days are getting shorter which often means getting up whilst it’s still dark and making your way to work. I work in retail, and I’m sure you’ll have heard that nobody likes working in retail at Christmas. I won’t lie to you, it’s hell. However, I’m not a total Ebenezer Scrooge, and I do in fact love December; after all it‘s my birthday month (22nd December for anyone that wants to get me a card). So yeah, this one is probably going to be a short one, I can’t post it at the end of December because I have another agenda, but I still have some gorgeous bits and bobs to share with you.
Firstly, an absolutely gorgeous perfume; I first fell in love with this scent in Paris when someone sprayed it on me in Sephora. I even kept the little card with the name of the fragrance on it so I could smell it. Over the past 12 weeks at work, we’ve had a team competition, of which the winner and two runners up get to choose a fragrance as a prize! I came third, so of course I found the little card with the name of the fragrance on, and ordered myself Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle. It’s a really refreshing, floral and fruity fragrance infused with jasmine and orange scents. What’s even better is that it’s an Eau de Parfum, not an Eau de Toilette, meaning it’s going to last all day without wearing off.
Next up – my funky vinyl coasters from Sparrowhawk Vintage in Newcastle-under-Lyme. I’ve been after vinyl coasters for ages, preferably Oasis ones, however when I spotted these I just had to buy them. I’ve kept two for myself and given Jake two in his Christmas stocking. They also have quite comical band/song names related to spilling drinks, which really made me giggle when I noticed. Four cute and quirky coasters from a local independent business for £2.70? I can’t complain at that. Sparrowhawk have got some really cool, funky gifts in store, so get in there quick for some adorable stocking fillers.
One word. Marble. Marble-effect patterns have absolutely taken over and are the must-have aesthetic for interior designers, bloggers etc. I picked up this hella-cute marble notebook from Primark for £2.50, because when buying other people Christmas gifts, it’s okay justify treating yourself. I saw twitter call this act ‘giftification’ and it’s my new favourite word. I’m dying to get my hands on a marble sheet so that I can do flat-lays.
Glitzy nails are a Christmas must-have, and I’ve recently been sent some stunning shades of Mezmeris Nail Lacquer. For my Christmas look I’ve gone for the Revlon Nail Enamel from my Glossybox in Valentine, coated with Mezmeris’ Gold Fizz and sealed with the Mezmeris topcoat. I am absolutely in awe of Gold Fizz, it gives a beautiful gold foil effect with different sizes of glitter and is perfect for Christmas. I can’t wait to give my Mum a mini-mani with Eat My Truffle and Gold Fizz, I just know it’s going to look amaze! I’ll be blogging about this soon. There’s also another beautiful galaxy-inspired shade, but I’m keeping this one secret – all will be revealed soon lovelies!
My final December favourite is simply, a cosy night in. Big jumper, comfy lounge pants, Christmas film (or Walking Dead if it’s a Monday), a hot water bottle/’hottie’ and a nice hot beverage. There’s nothing better than having some ‘me time’ and being jolly-well festive whilst doing it. I’ve even brought a cute penguin mug from the Card Factory for all my winter warmers.
