True Match vs. Infallible

A customer at work got really excited last week because L’Oreal was on 2 for £12, which is a great time to stock up on foundations as they’re £9.99 each usually. I decided to take advantage of the offer, so repurchased my usual True Match foundation in Rose Ivory (1R/1C), however thought I’d also test out another foundation from the range so that I could compare the two. L’Oreal have a really wide range of foundations, and the largest amount of shades I’ve seen compared to other brands, with the True Match selection having 23 shades. I went for the L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24hour foundation in Porcelain (015) for a couple of reasons.

  1. I really like the bottles these come in – they’re sturdy and the pump is really practical as you know exactly how much you’re putting on (one pump is usually plenty).
  2. The shade was slightly lighter that my True Match – though both foundations are the lightest in there range, the Rose Ivory is slightly warmer than the Porcelain.

I decided to try the True Match on the left side of my face, and the Infallible on the right.

True Match: I love True Match in Rose Ivory for being a lightweight but good coverage foundation that’s really buildable. It applies really well and suits my very pale complexion which was something I always struggled with in my teenage years. The foundation gives a really nice dewy finish, so has a more natural and healthy glow, meaning it’s great for everyday wear and you don’t have to wear anything else with it. It’s definitely my favourite everyday foundation and it last around three months; that works out at about 9p a day!

Infallible 24hour: This foundation is a little thicker than the True Match, but with a damp beauty blender, applies more thinly. It’s a full coverage foundation and is advertised as 24hours, so I think it would be great for a night out. It’s a more matte finish, so a beauty blender is definitely the way to go to avoid streaks from a stippling brush, but the matte look is the more ‘on-trend/Instagram’ look, so will probably be a very good choice for you Insta MUA’s. Though the shade appears lighter than the True Match at first, the colour oxidises to become a little bit darker, so more closely matches the Rose Ivory.

True Match is still my go-to foundation, as I feel the Infallible will be a little too heavy for me, however I’ve really liked using it under my eyes, on my nose, and on my forehead as it gives a really nice brightening effect; also the coverage is really good for disguising my dark circles. I think I’ll be using the Infallible and True Match combo on my sleepier days and definitely for nights out.
