I’m a huge Benefit make-up fan, and even more so since I had lots of goodies for Christmas and had my brows done at the Benefit Brow Bar. I’ve long been wondering the differences between the similar products though. Obviously with blushes, shadows and bronzers there are different shades, but I wanted to know if the mascaras were really that different, so did a little test.
My eyelashes are really fair, so I had to not wear mascara for two days to ensure my lashes were free from mascara residue. I put Rollerlash mascara on my right eye and They’re Real on the left. This is my ‘before’ lashes.
Rollerlash has a short, curved applicator, with small thin bristles.
I found that this was great for coating the tiniest of lashes and giving them a nice flirty curl. It’s a very subtle, girly look. However, I did need a couple of coats to get the desired effect.
They’re Real, on the other hand, has a long, straight applicator and the mascara is more thick and viscous.
My lashes didn’t need many coats at all and it gave my lashes a more ‘night out’ false lash effect. Essentially, it did what it said on the tin. The only downfall was that it didn’t catch the smaller lashes.
My advice would be to use Rollerlash on the inner corners and lower lashes, but give yourself thick and full lashes with They’re Real. That said, Rollerlash is a lovely every day, natural mascara.
