After being open for just five months, Sweet. (Hanley) and its monster-sized desserts have become the hub for the most instagrammable man vs. food puds, so Jake and I decided to final try it out.
Upon arriving, we were greeted with friendly staff and shown to our table. The cute décor with copper lights above the counter and a blanket of gorgeous coloured bauble lights on the ceiling. At the counter, you can see the staff constructing your dessert, adding the details and covering everything in chocolate.
I got pudding option paralysis as I was completely spoiled for choice with an array of cheesecakes, cookie dough skillets, brownies, waffles, crepes and shakes.
Red Velvet Cookie Dough, Strawberrytella Crepe and the Cookies and Cream Sundae all sounded amazing, but my final choice was the Kinder Bueno waffle and a coke, which came in a glass bottle (I can’t be the only one that think Coke tastes and looks better in a 50’s glass bottle). Jake went for a brew, which came in the most adorable teapot and glass mug, and a Strawberry Cheesecake, which was topped with fresh strawberries and chocolate.
The Kinder Bueno waffle could easily have fed two people. One gigantic waffle, smothered in white and milk chocolate sauce, Kinder Bueno chunks, vanilla gelato (fancy ice cream), whipped cream and then a cute little Mikado style chocolate stick. As much as I wanted to, I just couldn’t finish it. The waffle was so light and crispy and it was difficult to get bored of it due to the different flavour combinations.
Sweet’s puds are meals in their own right, and since it’s open until 11pm every night, it’s a great midday snack, catch-up treat or date night dessert.
