Does Charcoal Really Whiten Your Teeth?

Brushing your teeth with charcoal has become a major worldwide trend recently, so I decided to try it out for myself and see if it really does work.

Laila London sent me their Activated Charcoal Tooth Whitening Powder, and in a word: Yes. It bloody works.

Activated Charcoal has so many health benefits as well as teeth whitening, from bloating alleviation and removal of toxins.

Day 1: Here is a photo of my teeth before I started using the Laila London product. My teeth are quite naturally yellow due to being a redhead as we have genetically more yellow teeth and further staining due to drinking a lot of tea. Yellow teeth are stronger, however not as aesthetic, so I’ve wanted to whiten them for a while. These images are completely unedited, taken straight from my camera.

Straight after this photo, I went to the bathroom, wet my toothbrush and just dipped the bristles into the pot shaking off the excess. You really don’t need a lot of powder to see results. The charcoal doesn’t taste bad, as you would expect it to, or does it go as black and messy as shown in some videos online. This is a pretty mess-free, easy to use, inexpensive treatment. I’ll let the results speak for themselves. This is what my teeth looked like after the first brush, showing immediately visible results.

Day 3: This next image is a collage of the two above photos, plus a third image which is my teeth after the third use of Laila London’s Activated Charcoal Tooth Whitening Powder. You can already see that my teeth are getting brighter and whiter and I couldn’t be happier with the results already.

Day 5: After using the product for five days, the whitening process slowed down a little. The surface staining is gone, my teeth are so many shades whiter than when I first started, but the colour of my teeth now is probably very close to the natural colour of my teeth and will struggle to whiten further, however I do love the appearance of my teeth now! I am so much more confident about my smile after using the Laila London Activated Charcoal Tooth Whitening Powder and I’m so glad that I took the plunge and tried it out. My teeth feel so smooth and so many people have commented on their appearance and asked what I’ve been using. Well, the cat is out of the bag now!

Laila London’s Activated Charcoal Tooth Whitening Powder is available from their website, but it’s also available at Boots if you’re not an online shopper and it just £10! That’s nothing when you look at how amazing the results are!
