Since I have a lot (I mean a lot) of free time at the minute as I’m off uni, it means I have a lot of free time to kill so I’ve been filling that time with box sets and films, so I’ll kick this monthly favourites post off with TV series and films I’ve loved this June:
Girlboss – I watched this on Netflix in less than 24 hours. Some TV series take a while to get into, but you’ll be hooked from episode 1 all the way to episode 13. Girlboss is based on a true story of a girl who made her business out of buying old clothes, jazzing them up and selling them – she’s now got her own brand (NastyGal) which sells some absolutely killer wardrobe pieces.
Trainspotting and Trainspotting 2 – Trainspotting 1 was before my time, and so I never really got around to watching it. With the hype of Trainspotting 2, I decided it was time for me to watch it. It shows the gruesome details of what drugs can do to you alongside a compelling storyline of scaghead friendships and betrayals. T2 is set 20 years on from the initial incident, and everyone is still bitter about the betrayal.
Fresh Meat – While dog sitting for Anya and Lee, I needed a good series to entertain me, and so I was scrolling through 4OD and went for Fresh Meat since I love Jack Whitehall and anything with Joe Thomas in is going to be funny. It’s a brilliant series which accurately depicts student life alongside some hilarious mishaps and events. A light-hearted comedy that’s definitely worth a watch.
Tomorrow evening I’m going to see and photograph Tom Clarke from The Enemy as he celebrates 10 years of We’ll Live and Die in These Towns, one of my all-time favourite albums. I’ve been listening to it over and over getting all excited about the gig!
The legend that is Liam Gallagher has released a teaser of his new album As You Were. Wall of Glass is possibly my favourite song of 2017 so far if I’m to be so bold. I’ve pre-ordered the album and I can’t wait to hear it in its entirety. I loved Beady Eye’s work, but I feel this solo album is going to be a thousand times better (but probably not as good as Oasis).
Okay, so it’s not really makeup, but I guess you can use it as such. Jean gave me this beautiful body shimmer from M&S as a gift and it’s so cute. It’s got a big pink brush that makes you feel like such a princess dusting yourself with it. It adds a bit of sparkle to your day and can really brighten up your face when you don’t want to wear much makeup. You can unscrew the top and use it as a powder highlighter too!
Depop has probably been my most used app this month as I ridded out my clothes. I’ve made a little bit of cash on it, and also bagged myself two gorgeous dresses on there! The sequin number from my What I Wore post, and another cute velvet wrap dress that I’m saving for mine and Jake’s weekend in Manchester.
After nearly having a meltdown over a pair of shoes I’d seen in the sale but could have done with saving my pennies, Jake surprised me with them a week later. These beautiful velvet Kurt Geigers were reduced from £130 to £30! Steal! They’re actually really comfortable, unlike my other Kurt’s that cut my feet to ribbons at prom!
This bag I brought from New Look in my Summer Haul has come with me literally everywhere. It’s made me carry less stuff as I have a habit of over packing and taking out things that I don’t need to and it’s super cute too.
Surprisingly, this isn’t alcoholic, but I’m loving experimenting with different flavour cordials and infused waters. I purchased a fruit infusing water bottle from Primark and I am loving filling it up with lemons or strawberries, leaving it in the fridge overnight and it makes a gorgeous tasting and super refreshing drink the next day. It’s really encouraged me to drink more water every day and it’s so important to stay hydrated in this heat.
When on a night out, I’m usually driving and I got sick to death of having to drink coke; so I asked the barman what cordials they had and I thought he was kidding when he said rhubarb. I tried it and it’s literally the most amazing (non-alcoholic) drink I’ve ever had and it’s so cheap too! I seriously need to find somewhere that sells it, or failing that, I’ll have to make my own with the rhubarb we grow in the garden (blog post maybe?). I also tried their cherry flavoured cordial and it tastes exactly like Haribo sour cherries.
My final favourite is this amazing smelling candle from none other than Home Bargains. It smells like ‘Sex Wax’ surfboard wax which always reminds me of my holiday in Cornwall. I even have a Sex Wax air freshener in my car! Burning this has made me so excited for this year’s trip to Newquay!
