I’ve been dying to go pumpkin picking since my friend Anya told me about this farm she went to last year. Today, my family and I took a little afternoon trip to Brookfields Farm, Blackbrook!
On arrival we were greeted by two lovely women who told us to grab a wheelbarrow and have a wander, pick some pumpkins and pay at the end.
We walked through the pumpkin field and you forget that pumpkins aren’t these perfectly round, orange veggies that you see at the supermarket. They’re peculiarly shaped, some tiny, some gigantic, some egg shaped, some almost flat, some green, some yellow – it was amazing to just see them naturally in a field for you to choose your own.
I picked myself three pumpkins from the field and then picked up some teeny ones from the farm shop, where they also sold local produce. It was all really sweet and felt really homely. Oh and of course my brother just had to buy the biggest pumpkin there… Here are some of the photos we took:
I can’t wait to blog some funky pumpkin recipes and do some carving!
