My Predictions for The BRIT Awards

This years’ BRIT Awards are to be held on 21 February, and when the nominations were announced, there were a few obvious winners in my eyes. I decided to put forward my predictions for some of the categories this year to see if I can call it. Ready?

British Male Solo Artist

Ed Sheeran

Liam Gallagher

Loyle Carner

Rag‘n’Bone Man

This one I feel is a toss up between Ed and Liam. Ed is incredibly popular in the charts and is one of the biggest artists of his generation; likewise Liam is one of the biggest artists of his generation, but has come back with a solo album. I would like Liam to win, but I feel Ed might take this one.

British Female Solo Artist

Dua Lipa

Jessie Ware

Kate Tempest

Laura Marling

Paloma Faith

This one is between Dua Lipa and Paloma. Dua Lipa has been nominated for five awards this year, so you know she’s defo winning something… but is she the best? Could Paloma bag the title?

British Group

London Grammar

Royal Blood

Wolf Alice

The XX

All absolutely class bands, but for me Royal Blood and their new album are killing it. I’d love to see them win.

International Group

Arcade Fire

Foo Fighters

The Killers

LCD Soundsystem

Every single released on their latest album has reached record of the week on Radio X, so it’s going to be Foo’s. Haim are pretty badass too, though.

British Breakthrough Act

Dua Lipa

J Hus

Loyle Carner

Dua Lipa obvs. Genuinely never heard of the other guys (sorry), and therefore it proves that Dua Lipa has had a greater success in her breakthrough.

MasterCard British Album of the Year

Dua Lipa – Dua Lipa

Ed Sheeran – Divide

J Hus – Common Sense

Rag‘n’Bone Man – Human

Stormzy – Gang Signs and Prayer

The chart speaks for itself. All 16 tracks on Ed Sheeran’s Divide was in the top 20, absolutely dominating the charts and was almost instantaneously double platinum. That’s mad stats.

British Single of the Year

Calvin Harris ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean – Feels

Clean Bandit ft. Zara Larson – Symphony

Dua Lipa – New Rules

Ed Sheeran – Shape of You

J Hus – Did You See

Jax Jones ft. Raye – You Don’t Know Me

Jonas Blue ft. William Singe – Mama

Liam Payne ft. Quavo – Strip That Down

Little Mix – Touch

Rag’n’Bone Man – Human

This one is a difficult one to call. I reckon either Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa or Rag’n’Bone man. As talented as they are, I hope the BRITS doesn’t turn into the Ed and Dua Lipa Show.

International Male Solo Artist

Childish Gambino

DJ Khaled

Kendrick Lamar

Probably DJ Khaled – I’ve not heard his stuff (to my knowledge) but I’ve seen his name a lot lately on social media.

International Female Solo Artist

Alicia Keys

Taylor Swift

God, please… anyone but Taylor Swift.

British Video of the Year

Anne-Marie – Ciao Adios

Calvin Harris ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean – Feels

Clean Bandit ft. Zara Larsson – Symphony

Dua Lipa – New Rules

Ed Sheeran – Shape of You

Harry Styles – Sign of the Times

Liam Payne ft. Quavo – Strip That Down

Little Mix – Touch

Zayn and Taylor Swift – I Don’t Wanna Live Forever

I would love for Anne Marie to take this one – the girl is incredible.

I’ll be tuning in on the 21st to see how many of my guesses (and wishes!) I got right – who would you like to see take away some awards?

Beff xx
