People are always amazed at the bargains I manage to bag, be it a £3.50 Topshop jacket in a charity shop, or three dresses for 49p on Boohoo. How do I do it? To be honest, on a general level, I’m not too sure. I tend to stumble upon bargains as opposed to seeking them out. I can however, tell you exactly how I bagged three beautiful Boohoo dresses for the small cost of forty-nine pence (which includes delivery).
A couple weeks ago I ordered a dress from Nasty Gal. Instead of opting for 30% student discount on an £8 dress (£5.60 + £3.99 delivery = £9.59), I used their free next day delivery offer which meant I saved myself £4.99, and only paid £8 for the dress.
*tip – always check for delivery offers and compare them to your student discount to see which saves you the most money*
Hermes were the delivery courier, and anyone that knows me will know how much I despise their service. The problems I’ve had are unreal and it really puts me off ordering from places that use them.
Surprise, surprise, my parcel didn’t come the next day. They missed their allotted two hour slot and said they would reschedule and never showed again. There was a 24 hour delay and it did eventually turn up on day 2.
I sent an email to Nasty Gal to express my disappointment. I’d chosen the next day delivery offer over my student discount to save money, but I didn’t receive the service. Some of you may see this as petty, and I wouldn’t do it with independent businesses, but with corporate companies I don’t mind trying to wangle a bit of compensation out of them.
Nasty Gal offered to reimburse me the £4.99 in the form of a gift voucher code for Boohoo for the sum of £5. I was happy with that.
*tip – if you aren’t happy with a service – speak up – speak up and don’t back down until you get what you want*
Mindlessly scrolling through twitter I saw someone mention that Boohoo had a major 50%+ sale on, and told us about a cheeky 49p next day delivery code.
I had a scroll through the site and put a few bits into my basket and whittled it down to three dresses, one £1 and two £2. These dresses would have been around £20 each originally, so that’s a total saving of £55 with an additional £3.50 saving on delivery.
I used my £5 gift voucher code and the 49p delivery code and boom, 49p to pay.
The first dress is a really cute boho beaut with funky patterns and a tie front, which I thought would be great for festivals!
This floral number isn’t something I’d normally go for but the adorable cold shoulder sold me. I think this would make a great wedding guest dress if you’re a bit more casual like I am.
Finally, I went for this star-printed babe, which is really heavy as it’s lined and the quality is amazing for £2. This is going to be a nice little gig dress or a going for drinks with the girls dress.
Did you bag any Boohoo bargains in the sale?
