MOTD: Pink and Glossy

Glossy lids are a look that has taken Insta, YouTube and Catwalks by storm. Yes, it’s extra. Yes, it’s daring. And yes, I wanted to try it out.

When I’d finished the look, it looks odd at first because… well… you’ve never seen your eyelids with gloss on them before. However, after wearing it for about half an hour you get used to it. It doesn’t look too much and it’s a look I could quite happily wear out.

In terms of the way it feels, I suppose that would depend on the consistency of the product you’re using, but mine didn’t actually feel that weird? It’s unusual at first, but like I say – you get used to it and don’t realise it’s on after a while.

The only problem is the whole hair-sticking-to-lips situation… only your hair is sticking to your lips and eyes.

Product details:

Base:

Wonderland Primer | Dr Jart Beauty Balm | Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer | Kat Von D Lock It Powder

The Wonderland primer is a great dupe for the Smashbox Photo Finish primier, and the Dr Jart BB cream is a lovely alternative to a foundation. It’s actually better coverage than my Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable foundation. The Lasting Perfection concealer (fair) is a trust product that a lot of bloggers swear by. I think when I repurchase I’ll go for the extra fair shade. Finally I use the Kat Von D powder to mattify areas that get oily like my chin and forehead.

Brows:

Natural Collection Brow Gel | Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

These products are my holy grails. The brow gel is so cheap at £2.49. I also did a full review of the ABH dipbrow here. I’m hoping to film a little brow tutorial for you guys once I’ve had my brows waxed – longggg overdue.

Eyes:

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette | Benefit Badgal BANG Mascara | Rimmel LipArt | No7 High Shine Gloss

I used the shades Love Letter and Venetian Red from the Modern Renaissance palette to create the colour. I tried to make the pink the most intense on the lid ad diffuse it out towards the outer corner and brow. Then I used the new Benefit mascara Badgal BANG (read my review here) before glossing the life out of my lids. I used both the Pearlescent Rimmel gloss and Sparkling Rose No7 gloss so that there was a holographic element as well as a sparkle.

Contour, Highlight and Blush:

Model Co Contour Stick | I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts Highlighter | Natural Collection Glow Blush

I don’t contour on an everyday basis, but when I do I love this creamy contour stick because it blends out like a dream. I just wish it was a slightly ashier tone. This highlighter is my all-time fave for sparkle, shade and staying-power. Lastly, this peachy blush is mega subtle but just adds that natural flush back into the cheeks. Natural Collections products are so underrated.

Lips:

Rosy Vaseline | No7 High Shine Gloss in Sparkling Rose

I went for very little colour on the lips, just tinting them slightly with the pink Vaseline. I then put the same gloss, No7 High Shine, on my lips as I did on my eyes.

Will you be rocking the glossy lids this SS18? I think it’s a look I could really get used to.

I’ve always been scared of a glossy eye look as my lids are oily and I have a big mane that could get stuck in it. However, I am obsessed with this look on you and I am definitely going to give it a go. It looks amazing. x
