It may not technically be Summer for another month, but this weather is certainly making it feel like it is!
Summer means long sunny days that are perfect for sitting in the garden with a cold G&T and a good book. It also means cracking out the day dresses, be it a cute floaty tea dress or a gorge long maxi.
I feel like I’m much better at styling myself in summer, because my outfits are full of colour and expression. I can experiment with different cuts and fabric. In winter, you’ll find me in my faded university hoodie and a pair of legging under a blanket, which isn’t very instagrammable.
Boohoo recently got in touch and wanted me to choose and style a transitional dress. Something that would see us through the end of spring and into those gorgeous summer months.
I love a good maxi dress, but I find it incredibly difficult to find one I love.
Well, I found one – and it’s an absolute steal at £25!
Meet the Layla Floral Tie Back Woven Maxi Dress (try saying that five times!).
If you’ve seen my instagram feed recently, you’ll know I’ve been styling myself in mustard a lot recently. Yellow is a fresh, happy colour with positive energy and optimism, which I think is perfect for summer.
Dress – Boohoo

The quality of this dress is lovely. It’s not too flimsy or too heavy, it’s just right for this gorgeous weather we’ve got at the moment. It’s cut in such a way that it slims the waist and gives a curvy illusion. For someone as straight up-and-down as I am, this dress gave me a real confidence boost.
I ordered the Layla Floral Maxi in the petite range, so that it was a little shorter than usual, meaning I could wear flats with it for a day look, or dress it up with heels. These mustard slingbacks were just £6 from Primark and they had a few different colours too.
The tie back detail is super adorable and shows off a little bit of skin without showing too much. I did bring a denim jacket along too since they go with pretty much a n y t h I n g. They’re super easy to just throw on over an outfit, and the washed out blue contrasts really nicely with the mustard tones.
Now, let’s talk about straw bags boo. They are the next best thing, am I right? I’ve seen so many variations of these wicker beauties but I fell in love with this teenie tiny backpack from New Look. Even better? It was in the sale. I really should have topped the outfit off with a circular straw hat, but I haven’t managed to find one just right yet.
Boohoo have a huge, I am talking massive range of stunning dresses for spring and summer. Mates BBQ? Sorted. Wedding? Sorted. Beach? Sorted. Girls night? Boohoo has your back. Head over to their site and find the dress that will take you from spring and through summer.
