Revolution Beauty, formerly known as TAM Beauty, are the creators of many of our well-known and much-loved brands. Makeup Revolution, Freedom Makeup, I Heart Makeup and now, Obsession Makeup.
TAM Beauty underwent a revamp and their main brands now include Revolution, Revolution Pro, I Heart Revolution and Obsession Makeup. They are focused on being high quality, yet affordable brands that are 100% cruelty free, because makeup should be available to everyone ‘no matter their sex, age, ethnicity, budget or location’.
Revolution have been praised for their inclusion of more shades and tones, alongside their super low prices. I find a lot of the Revolution Beauty brands are only really available at Superdrug, and since I work at Boots, I very rarely go. Boots do however, stock Obsession Makeup, and (pardon the pun) I am obsessed.
I have previously picked up a couple of the single pans, but I don’t tend to reach for single shadows unless I have a palette for them, like my Bleach London BYO Palette. The idea behind customisable palettes is that there is less waste and you can make it totally personal to you, which is something I love. I will eventually get around to purchasing an Obsession palette for my pans, but right now, I don’t need to.
Obsession Makeup Brushes
Being the bargain hunting queen I am, whenever I go into a different Boots store, the first thing I do is find the clearance section. Previous bargains I’ve bagged include a Dr Jart Beauty Balm (RRP £21) for £1, a Benefit Ka-Brow (RRP £20.50) for £5 and a gazillion other things.
A couple of weeks back I popped into a store and found a set of Obsession Makeup Brushes. I’ve worked at Boots for over three years and I put the Christmas stock out every year. I knew instantly that these were last year’s old Christmas stock that had retailed at £60.Wanna know how much I paid for them? £5.25.
In the set you get five, fluffy oval brushes, a blending sponge, a silicon blender and some solid brush cleanser. All of these products retail at upwards of £5 separately, which gives you an idea of how much of a bargain I got.
Personally, I’m not a fan of silicon blenders, but I love the sponge. Plus, it’s marble, so who could say no? I really like the small, oval shadow brushes for things like highlighting brow bones and inner corners, too.
I couldn’t just leave it at brushes though, as I really wanted to see how good the brand was on a whole. When I saw the Warm Up eye shadow palette and knew it would be perfect for Autumn with it’s warm berry and golden tones. Since the makeup was on 3 for 2, I also picked up the You Got This face palette (and some NYX Glitter).
These palettes are just £5 each, making each pan just 63p!
Obsession Makeup Warm Up Palette
In the Warm Up palette you get a gorgeous gold shimmer, alongside a pink shimmer, and nude brow shimmer. You also get brown, pink, nude, burgundy and deep purple matte shadows. The pigment is incredible, particularly with the glitters as the brushes pick them up really well. My go-to Autumn look has been a burgundy smokey eye with a popping gold lid. For extra glam, I often add a touch of Bleach London Glitterati in golden. These swatches have been created with stencils from Swatch Easy, who you can find on Instagram here for affordable stencils.
Obsession Makeup You Got This Palette
From the You Got This palette, I’ve been using ‘Goals’ to contour and ‘Free’ and ‘Ready’ to highlight. The baked highlighters are possibly my favourite products, because my god do they glow. You could see that shimmer a mile away. It’s so good, even my grandma said she wants some.
Also in the palette is a peachy highlight and an icy highlight, alongside matte, banana powders perfect for setting.
I’m genuinely really impressed by the quality and pigment of the products for their low price, and whilst I wouldn’t buy the brushes at full price, I’m happy with them for what I paid. Their makeup is incredibly affordable and the pigment is crazy, and I would love to collect a bit more of their makeup, particularly their highlighters and strobe creams. I find myself constantly reaching for both palettes on a daily basis, so no doubt I’ll be purchasing more!
