Molton Brown’s advent calendar is, without doubt, one of the most luxurious countdowns of the season. I knew it would be opulent, beautifully presented, and filled with those signature sophisticated scents – but what I didn’t expect was just how varied the contents would be.
At £199, this 24-day calendar works out to around £8.30 per door, and the total contents are worth £346 – a saving of just under £150. It’s not the biggest saving compared to others like Glossybox or Boots, but this one is all about elegance and quality.
Molton Brown never skimps on presentation, and this calendar is no exception. The gold and mushroom design is timeless, opening up to reveal 24 uniform drawers, each containing a deluxe Molton Brown treat.
I must admit, I expected mainly bath and body products, but this calendar isn’t just stuffed with shower gels and body lotions. There are actually eight travel-sized perfumes and fragrance baubles, which is such a treat for someone like myself, who loves exploring new scents, plus a fragrance travel case that helps prevent them getting lost or damaged in your bag.
Fiery Pink Pepper is one of Molton Brown’s best-loved spicy scents, while Bluebell & Wild Strawberry is fresh and delicate. Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel is reminiscent of sale-sprayed breezes, while the Reviving Rosemary Perfume Oil Roll-On is a gorgeously grounding scent.
Molton Brown has always been a mark of British luxury – the brand even holds a Royal Warrant, granted in 2012 for supplying toiletries to Queen Elizabeth II. The late Queen apparently loved the Orange & Bergamot Bath & Shower Gel, and while that exact product isn’t in this year’s calendar, the same scent does make an appearance as a hand wash, alongside not one, but two hand creams. These are perfect for keeping by the sink or gifting to guests.
Aside from perfume minis and hand care, the calendar offers a mix of Molton Brown favourites, each one as indulgent as the next. There are three body lotions which I’ve found linger on the skin long after application. They’re great for layering after using one of the four sumptuously scented shower gels, from Re-charge Black Pepper to Wild Mint & Lavandin.
I’d love to say I plan to share these out amongst friends and family, but I’m actually planning to save them for when Jake and I get our house so I can impress guests with our toiletries selection.
