The story behind Let’s Face It Beauty Box as it launches in the UK

Let’s Face It Beauty is the latest subscription box to hit the market, offering a handpicked selection of luxury products from just £35.

Shelley Watson decided to launch the brand after suffering half a decade of bullying as a teenager. She said: “I was bullied because of the way I looked. I didn’t want to go into school and I didn’t tell my parents until four years later – by this time, it had already had an impact on my confidence and anxiety levels.”

As a result, Shelley felt the need to change her appearance with surgical and non-surgical treatments, hair extensions and veneers. But she doesn’t want that for her customers.

She added: “Let’s Face It! Beauty came to me in a dream three years ago. I wanted to change the way in which beauty was offered in the comfort of your own home. I didn’t want my customers to feel they need to change their looks and give them the confidence to stand up to their critics and feel beautiful daily – with or without the support of great skincare and makeup products.”

The entrepreneur wanted her beauty boxes to focus on luxury skincare and makeup brands, offering them to men and women across the country at a lower price point.

Ahead of the official site launch, I got my hands on one of the very first Let’s Face It! Beauty boxes that will feature in their subscription. Inside were eight beauty products, which is more than I’ve ever seen in other subscription boxes – and all of them were full sized besides a travel-sized perfume, which was 4.5ml, so more than twice the size of your average 1-2ml sample.

The highest value product in the box was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Glow Kit, which retails at £41. The kit offers six icy, iridescent highlight shades that are super buildable to offer a subtle shimmer to a blinding strobing effect. It was joined by the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in the shade Sweet Blossom – a soft rusty rose shade perfect for the festive season. This would usually cost £28, and is a really moisturising, comfortable formula to wear all day.

The perfume – Burberry body – is a peachy fragrance with notes of sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and cashmere wood. A full-sized bottle would set you back over £20, so this is a great way to try out a smaller size to see if you’d like it before committing to a full bottle.

And for after those long days at work, Let’s Face It! Beauty have included not one, but two Eunyul daily care sheet masks in ‘broccoli’ and ‘rice’, which are really soothing and easy to use. Perfect for a self-care pamper session.

Other products included in the box are popular drugstore brands, think L’Oreal, Max Factor and Bourjois. In my box was a Max Factor Brow Contouring Powder Kit for defining brows, alongside a Barry M nail polish in the shade ‘Peach For The Stars’. Finally there was a Technic Glossy Top lip product – worth £2.50 – for a sassy barely-there sheer gloss for a winter pout.

In January, Shelley will be travelling to New York to train as a Makeup Artist to develop the brand into a one-stop shop for beauty, skincare, advice, tips, tricks and techniques.

The Let’s Face It! Beauty Boxes are £35 and include one luxury branded item and travel perfume, or pay an extra £10 to see more high-end products, like Charlotte Tilbury and Anastasia Beverly Hills. Their boxes will be available to order via their website, launching early December – but stay up to date with all the latest info on the LFI!B social media channels, alongside their newsletter to see when they officially drop.
