What’s inside Lush’s £190 advent calendar for 2024

For me, Lush is a brand that feels synonymous with Christmas, from receiving their gorgeous gift sets, immediately recognisable from their scent as they’re unwrapped, to their epic Boxing Day sale. And each year, one of my favourite ways to get into the festive spirit is with the incredibly popular Lush Advent Calendar

For years, Lush has been the go-to calendar for bath-bomb enthusiasts and fragrance fans, with the fresh, handmade cosmetics bringing an exciting, sensory experience to self-care routines. They started off with 12-day countdowns, before launching a 24-day offering in 2019, and have been releasing full 25-day calendars since 2022.

This year, the Lush Advent Calendar costs £190 – which is cheaper than last year – and boasts an incredible selection of 25 vegan products, including eight retro returns and two exclusives.

The colourful box design is a work of art created by Tess Gilmartin from the inclusive Blue Room arts programme. Fun, vibrant and most importantly, reusable, it embodies everything Lush is about. This is the third year I’ve had the Lush calendar and I always find a use for the sturdy and versatile container. You could use it to store your bath bombs in the bathroom, or use it to create a showstopping hamper – see how I reused mine here.

The box is a two-tier haul with a lid and drawer. Inside, customers will find something to pamper from head to toe, including luxurious lotions, lip masks and bubble bars.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without an appearance from the extremely well-loved Snow Fairy. In fact, this range is such a festive icon that over 3 million Snow Fairy items were handmade at Lush’s UK factory in 2022. The cult fragrance has been a fan-fave for 18 years now, and its sweet, bubblegum scent never fails to evoke that sense of holiday magic. The calendar offers the ultimate opportunity to stock up on this signature scent in shower gel form, alongside a lip mask and bath bomb in the iconic scent.

The Sleepy body lotion is another standout. Known for its soothing lavender scent and creamy texture, it’s perfect for unwinding in the evenings, helping you relax during the bustling holiday season. This is one of those products where I always seem to have a pot on the go, but I always like to make a point of using it on Christmas Eve so I feel all cosy and calm as I head up to bed.

I’ve discovered some stunning limited edition fragrances through the Lush Advent Calendars of Christmas pasts, including Turmeric Latte and All Is Full Of Love, but this year’s might just be my favourite. The Magic of Christmas perfume is unlike any other in my collection, with fresh, clean notes of grapefruit, petitgrain, warming cinnamon and sweet carob resin. It’s a really rich and warm scent which makes it the perfect fragrance to wear through December, and everyone you meet will undoubtedly ask what perfume you’re wearing.

Another cosy addition is the Hot Toddy One Wick Candle. I adore the Hot Toddy shower gel and have always dreamed of having it in candle form, and the Lush Advent Calendar has appeared to have made my Christmas wishes come true. Lush describes the scent as one that ‘transports you back to winter nights in front of the fire, hot toddy in hand, crackling embers and the scent of festive spice in the air’ – and I couldn’t have put it better myself. Blending spicy clove leaf and cinnamon leaf with zesty orange notes, this is festive nights in candle form and I can’t get enough of it.

Bath bombs are undeniably the product that Lush are best known for, and this calendar gives us no fewer than eight, including popular fizzers like Intergalactic and Snow Fairy, alongside exclusives like the Li’l Lush Pud bath bomb and Magic bath bomb. The downside is that you can only ever use a bath bomb once, but Lush has featured plenty of products you can use time and again, too, like the Christmas Lights soap, Rose Jam shower gel and Candy Cane bubble bar.

Catering to Lush aficionados and newcomers alike, the calendar offers a broad range of products that showcase the brand’s creativity and dedication to vegan, cruelty-free bath and body products. At £190, the Lush Advent Calendar doesn’t save a great deal of money compared to buying the products individually, but it is a fun way to stock up on all of your Lush goodies in one fell swoop. While some of the products are single-use, others can last several baths, meaning some of these could see you all the way through until next Christnas. Moreover, it’s a great way to get your hands on exclusive products, and splitting it up to gift as stocking fillers could prove to be time-saving when shopping this December. You can pick up a Lush Advent Calendar of your own here on the Lush website.
