You know that feeling when your “saved” tab is looking just a little too good? That’s me this month – a little bold of me seeing as Jake and I have just had an offer accepted on a house (again). I’ve been bookmarking pieces that scream ‘summer adventures’, with just enough cosy-season crossover to make me feel smug about my future outfits.
I’d be lying if I said a few of these weren’t already in the post or in my wardrobe. I definitely hit ‘buy’ the second I got paid on a handful of these. Ahead of an upcoming holiday and autumn sneaking up, this month’s picks feature a mix of breezy dresses that can be layered for the transitional season, wear-forever jackets and a few everyday pieces that will mix and match effortlessly with items already in my rotation. Here’s what’s living in my head rent free this month.
ASOS Poplin Dropped Waist Racer Maxi Dress in Yellow Stripe – £45
I’m convinced this dress could single-handedly turn a gloomy British summer into a Mediterranean holiday. The sunshine yellow stripes and chocolate contrast? Pure dopamine. The racer cut and high neck keep it modern, while the dropped waist is bang on trend – I’m literally seeing them everywhere and while some are trickier to style than others, this one is just right.
I’ve already seen some of my favourite creators style this both on its own and layered up. Georgiarhianne__ has worn it paired with a brown blazer on one occasion and a white, oversized collar shirt on another, while bexjadefountain styled it up with denim and mesh ballet flats. It’s certainly more versatile than one might initially consider, and I do think it’s a piece I’ll wear on repeat.
The one thing I will say about this frock is that it’s incredibly small fitting. I’m between an 8-10 usually and I had to order this dress three times to get the right fit, settling on a size 12. The adjustable straps are a big bonus though. Buy it here.
Next Chocolate Brown Faux Suede Jacket – £65
Some jackets just get it and this is a style I spied frequently on socials during Copenhagen Fashion Week, proving it’s exactly the kind of layering piece I need in my wardrobe this year. This faux suede number is that sweet spot between trending and timeless, and the rich chocolate tone will transition seamlessly from August evenings to crisp October mornings.
Picture it with wide-leg linen trousers or the aforementioned ASOS dress now, and over a roll neck later in the year. It’s the ultimate ‘throw on over everything’ staple and is a piece that will look better the more frequently it’s worn when it’s got that more lived-in look. Buy it here.
Havaianas Slim Square – £30
The humble flip-flop has had a glow-up this year, not least as people lean into that scandi style – no longer will Primark’s £1 foam thongs cut the mustard. Truth be told, they only last the week I’m on holiday anyway and as such, I’ve been eyeing up a pair of Havaianas for some time now, finally ready to commit to one pair that will last me years to come.
My sister-in-law wears her Black Slim Square Havaianas everywhere and they look so elevated for a basic sandal, so naturally, I copied her, and I have absolutely zero regrets. They’re featherlight and ultra-comfortable, with the sleek square toe instantly making them look more fashion editor off duty than beach snack run, which I love. They’re minimalist, versatile, and perfect for slipping into a tote as a ‘just in case’ pair when heels start to pinch. Buy them here.
Topshop Poplin Shirt in Purple & Pink Stripe – Now £18 (Was £36)
A striped shirt is a wardrobe staple, and while blue and white is a classic, this one is giving main character energy thanks to its unexpected purple-and-pink combo. I love this colourway, with my dressing gown being similar, as well as an ASOS satin skirt I wear to death, so I know it’ll be the same case for this shirt.
Primark were actually doing a similar style and I couldn’t find it in store and it wasn’t available for click and collect. I found this Topshop option as an alternative on ASOS but delayed purchasing when it was full price but snapped it up quicker than you can say ‘add to cart’ when it hit the sale.
The oversized fit and spread collar make it perfect for a French tuck into jeans, or even worn open over a bikini on holiday. Bonus points for the fact it’s on sale – colourful dopamine dressing and a bargain? Yes please. There are also some matching trousers available but I often find when styled together they look a little too pyjama-y. Buy it here.
TBCo × Harlie Briggs Scarf – £39
Scarves worn as literally anything but a scarf is my favourite summer trend of 2025, so naturally, I had to get my hands on one of my own. This one is part of the TBCo x Harlie Briggs collection and the shades are an absolute dream. Earthy tones, organic shapes, and that ‘carefree summer’ energy mean it’ll be as at home with a linen dress as it will peeking out from under a trench.
So far, I have only actually worn it as a necktie, but it’s also large enough to tie around my waist with a pair of linen trousers and a vest top, which I’ll 100% be doing on holiday. It can also be worn as a headscarf to protect the scalp from the sun, or added to a bag for a pop of colour. Buy it here.
Mint Velvet Bea Burgundy Leather Ballet Flats – £110
Square toe ballet flats are the chic older sister of the classic round-toe pair. This burgundy leather version with its gold-tone buckle has that quiet luxury feel that makes people think you have a capsule wardrobe full of perfect staples (my floordrobe tells another story, mnd you). I think these would work beautifully with the pink and purple shirt above, but will equally elevate those warm ecru and chocolate neutrals for a stunning autumnal palette. Buy them here.
Only Round Neck Denim Top – £33.50 (Was £42)
I’m such a fan of a boxy top and this denim number is again, a really wearable everyday piece. The round neck and loose fit keep it casual, while the above-hip length makes it ideal for high-waisted skirts or trousers. Bexjadefountain wore similar over the ASOS striped dress, while I’m thinking fun patterned trousers would work just as well. It’s a “throw on and go” piece that still feels put-together, and is also on sale. Buy it here.
Amy Lynn ‘Cher’ Shirred Green Plaid Top – £39
When the temperatures rise I always look for lightweight, stretchy, sleeveless pieces and this Amy Lynn top ticks all three of those boxes. You may remember my ASOS red olive graphic printed tee in a similar silhouette either from my previous article, or my Instagram account and I found it to be incredibly flattering, so I’m looking to add more tops in the same style to my wardrobe. Buy it here.
The high neck and shirred fit both look great and feel comfortable, while the green plaid print adds a hint of preppy charm. I’d wear this with denim cut-offs now and layer under a chunky cardigan come autumn.
If I’m being realistic, not everything on this wishlist will make it into my wardrobe this month, but it’s nice to dream. And in the meantime, I’ll be over here mentally styling these pieces into a dozen imaginary outfits.
