Unboxing LookFantastic's beauty advent calendar with highest ever value in 10 years

Considered to be one of the OG purveyors of beauty calendars, LookFantastic is celebrating its 10th anniversary of festive countdowns this season – so naturally, it had to be bigger and better than ever before. At £105 for over £655 worth of products, it’s the most valuable calendar the brand has ever released, and one of the most impressive, too.

Inside, beauty buffs can discover 28 products – more than any other calendar in its price bracket. You’re not just getting sample sizes, either, as 17 of the products (nearly two-thirds) are full size, making it ideal for those who love premium products without the premium price tag. It also happens to be one of the best value ratios on the market this year, just behind Glossybox, which has a saving of 85% compared to LookFantastic’s 83%.

Coming in a classy red box this year, beauty fans can pull out a drawer each day in December to discover skincare powerhouses like Medik8, REN, and Elemis, to makeup royalty MAC and Iconic London, to cult-favourite lifestyle names like Sol de Janeiro and The White Company. The lineup offers a full-spectrum experience that shows the breadth and depth of LookFantastic’s beauty hall.

One of the most coveted items in the calendar will be the Medik8 Hydra B5 Intense, worth £59 alone. I already use several Medik8 products in my routine, so this will no doubt be a welcome addition. The formula works to plump, refresh and rejuvenate the skin, and is packed with superfood antioxidants and soy extract to provide protection against pollution and environmental aggressors.

For those looking at which products bump up the value of the calendar, there’s also the Avant Glycolic Acid Rejuvenating Face Exfoliator 50ml, worth £92 (check out my review of Avant’s calendar here), a £49 REN Clean Skincare Radiance Eye Cream and Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Acid Mask, usually £55.

It’s not just packed with high end products to boost the RRP, though. Whether it carries a higher price tag, or is something more affordable, each drawer contains something genuinely useful, including no-crease hair clips, wristbands and undereye masks. Little details, like the Spectrum metallic brush set and even the Myvitamins Coconut & Collagen supplements show that this calendar has been curated by someone who just ‘gets’ what it is to be a girl.

While the Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist does happen to be one of my favourite scents (the pistachio and salted caramel is truly addictive), there’s a notable lack of perfume in this countdown. That’s probably down to the fact that LookFantastic have launched a dedicated fragrance calendar this year, though it sold out incredibly quickly.
