There’s a reason that Boots is hailed as the number one beauty retailer in the UK – and the high street favourite has pulled out all the stops this festive season with the launch of its 24 Day Premium Beauty Advent Calendar, proving just why it holds on to its title year after year.
With a presence on almost every high street in the country, Boots reliably keeps shoppers topped up with essentials, cult brands and trending products with a big focus on offering value to customers. And their festive countdown is no exception, offering hundreds of pounds worth of savings, exceptional brands and a selection of products to make beauty aficionados swoon.
While most luxury calendars now cost between £200-250 (Sephora, Cult Beauty, Space NK), Boots’ is priced at £150 and is worth an incredible £612.50, giving you a saving of over £460. The value alone is enough to grab attention, but what really makes this calendar special is the line-up of products. Housed in a circus themed chest, there are 25 treats hidden across 24 drawers, including 17 full sizes, it’s one of the most generous luxury beauty calendars on the market this year.
Inside, you’ll find a carefully curated mix of skincare, makeup, haircare, and fragrance from some of the most popular beauty brands around, think Elemis, NARS, MAC, Sol de Janeiro, Fenty – a mix of trusted names and heritage brands, with some newer, more social media savvy picks, too.
One of the most impressive inclusions is Drunk Elephant’s Protini Moisturiser, worth £62 on its own. Packed with peptides, it’s a lightweight, gel-cream formula that will suit a range of skin types. Skincare lovers will also be delighted by the inclusion of the Caudalie Vinohydra Moisturising Mask and Fenty Skin Blemish Defeat’r BHA Spot Targeting Gel. There are quite a few cleansers in the form of Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Cleansing Gelée, Fresh’s cult Soy Face Cleanser and Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, but if there are products that feel excessive, they make excellent stocking fillers for friends and family.
Makeup classics are sprinkled throughout the calendar too. Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder appears in a travel-friendly size – my holy grail setting powder that I use year-round. MAC’s Velvet Teddy lipstick also makes an appearance in a mini format, which is ideal for slipping into your handbag. For a touch of glow, there’s Milk Makeup’s Dewy Cream Highlighter Stick in Lit, as well as NARS Light Reflecting Hydrating Primer, a gorgeous glowy base that will be perfect for festive nights out.
If fragrance is more your thing, you’ll be delighted by Sol de Janeiro’s Cheirosa 76 Perfume Mist, which is a little different to the classic Cheirose 62. Instead, it’s an amber-floral scent with notes of black currant, pear nectar, midnight jasmine, vanilla, freesia, amber woods and caramelised patchouli. There’s also a beautiful Arizona Bloom scent from Floral Street, which makes a gorgeous handbag companion or a sweet gift for someone else.
Haircare hasn’t been forgotten either. Aveda’s Botanical Repair Leave-In Treatment and Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer Extreme both feature, perfect for bringing tired winter hair back to life. On the pampering side, there’s a Rituals Mehr Body Scrub for indulgent evenings and Origins GinZing Brightening Eye Cream to refresh tired eyes.
