I’ve despised jumper dresses for about seven years – ever since my ex bought me one with a massive penguin on the front of it for Christmas.
I’ve literally avoided them like the plague, but this one caught my eye and made me stop and think.
Of course, it’s from the one and only Everything5Pounds – a site I feel I have searching and scrolling down to a tee. I know exactly where to look, what the quality will be like and what the sizing is like now. I feel like a seasoned shopper.
I consulted the mother with “Oi, d’ya think I can get away with a jumper dress? Or will I look like a 14-year-old with a shit boyfriend?”
I hit ‘add to basket’ and figured if it’s god-awful, it was only a fiver (a dangerous motto I’m currently living by).
A jumper dress is a mega easy outfit – you don’t have to do anything else! I wore it with my vintage look Chelsea boots from Topshop, and a distressed satchel. The boots are deliberately distressed, whereas the bag is just well loved, but it wears the tired look well (I don’t).
Both accessories have far exceeded their cost per wear, so really, it felt like my entire outfit cost me a fiver. Thankfully, it’s renewed a love for jumper dresses and opened a new fashion (wardrobe) door of knitwear.
As we move into the winter months, this could definitely be worn with some chunky coloured tights, or worn over jeans with a slight tuck.
I have never known a more simple, casual yet put-together outfit featuring just three items of clothing.
