I spent £235 on the Sephora beauty calendar – here’s why I think it’s worth every penny

Beauty advent calendars are hardly in short supply as we approach Christmas, with luxury retailers competing to cram their boxes with as many skincare, makeup and fragrance treats as possible. But with some costing hundreds of pounds, working out which ones are genuinely worth the money can be tricky.

I unbox several calendars every year, and while a calendar can look impressive on paper, it’s much less appealing if you’re left with products you won’t use. But there’s one countdown this year that impressed me so much that I bought it with my own money and that is the Sephora Advent Calendar 2026.

Priced at £235, it promises more than £1,000 worth of beauty products, including 40 treats, 27 of which are full-size while 10 are exclusive to Sephora. It’s one of the highest value and highest volume at a very reasonable price point when compared to its competitors (Space NK, £275, Cult Beauty, £250) and contains a seriously high calibre of brands that are very easy to get excited about.

For me, this wasn’t an impulse purchase by any means. I spent weeks looking through the contents to decide whether it was worth the investment, and for me, the balance of brands I already know and love, alongside others I’ve had on my wish list for a while made it a no brainer. Here are my notes:

The fragrance selection is sensational

Anyone who follows me will know I’m a perfume girl, so a good scent selection can make or break a beauty advent calendar for me. Thankfully, Sephora hasn’t disappointed.

There’s PHLUR Vanilla Skin Eau de Parfum, a cosy, warm fragrance that’s delicious without being overly sweet and already one of my personal favourites. I also love MERIT Retrospect L’Extrait de Parfum, which has an understated cool-girl feel thanks to its blend of florals, vanilla and moss. I already own the full-size version, so the 9.5ml bottle in the calendar is ideal for throwing into my handbag.

The selection also gave me the chance to discover some new fragrances, including Fugazzi Cloud Nine Eau de Parfum with its notes of tonka bean, musk and woods, while Kayali Eden Sparkling Lychee Eau de Parfum offers a fruitier alternative. Whether you’re building a perfume collection or searching for a signature scent, this is a fantastic opportunity to try things you may not otherwise have picked up..

Haircare heroes worth knowing about

Haircare is another category where this calendar really delivers for me. The K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask recently featured in my Q3 Empties edit and I was extremely tempted to splash out on the full size – truly, my hair had never felt better. At £70 for the 50ml size, it’s not an inexpensive treatment to buy individually. Getting it as part of the Sephora calendar means you’re also receiving dozens of other products around it, rather than spending that amount on a single haircare item.

There’s also Color Wow Insta Wow Advanced Dry Shampoo, which is a particularly practical addition. I get through plenty of dry shampoo throughout the year, so it’s the sort of product I know won’t sit unused in a cupboard. Elsewhere, the calendar includes Maria Nila True Soft Argan Oil and a mini Gisou Honey Infused Styling Cream, giving the haircare selection a nice mix of treatments and styling products.

Makeup lovers – lock in

Another product I’ve been eyeing up but apprehensive to take the plunge on is a Makeup By Mario eyeshadow palette, because £50+ is a lot of cash to drop on one product to potentially not love it. Inside the calendar, there’s a Makeup By Mario Ethereal Moonlight Eyeshadow Palette, valued at £69, giving me a much lower-risk way to trial the formula. Plus, with a combination of mattes, satins, shimmers and metallics in wearable neutral shades it feels versatile enough for everyday makeup and evening looks.

Another favourite brand of mine is MERIT, so the Flush Balm Cream Blush in Fox is a welcome addition. I’ve tried several of these blushes already and love their lightweight, blendable formula and fresh, juicy finish. The shade looks right up my street, too.

Other makeup highlights include the MAC Macximal Sleek Satin Lipstick in Crème In Your Coffee, which could be a more dramatic evening alternative to my usual Velvet Teddy, and the Kosas Shiny Objects Wet Glisten Powder Highlighter.

I’m also delighted to see the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder and ONE/SIZE On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray, having heard so many good things about them.

Skincare is another strong category

The skincare lineup is just as exciting, kicking off with Dr Sam’s Flawless Cleanser, which has been on my wish list for a while, so I’m pleased to see the full-size 200ml bottle included. I’m also looking forward to trying Glowery Daily Dew Tiger Grass Glow Serum – I’m always drawn to their playful packaging in store but I’m yet to actually give one of their formulas a go.

Another brand I’m always happy to see is Medik8. The calendar includes its Niacinamide Peptides serum, valued at £49. Glow Recipe also makes an appearance with its Vitamin C Brightening Toner Pads. Toner pads have become a popular part of skincare routines, and these combine vitamin C with niacinamide and caffeine in a convenient format designed for the under-eye area and cheeks.

There are plenty of other names worth mentioning, too, including Tatcha, Sunday Riley, Dermalogica, Laneige, Medicube and Biodance. The selection spans cleansers, moisturisers, exfoliating products and treatments, giving you plenty of options to incorporate into an existing routine or use as an introduction to a new brand.

Overall thoughts

One of the biggest selling points of the Sephora calendar is the sheer amount packed inside. With 40 products, including 27 full-size items, there’s a generous mix of substantial products and smaller treats. The £1,000-plus stated value is impressive, but I think the more important question is whether you’ll actually use what’s included. For me, that’s where Sephora has got it so, so right.

There are also a few unexpected extras that make the collection feel different from a traditional beauty-only countdown. The Discothèque Lola at Coat Check Candle, valued at £54, is a particularly lovely example. With warm woods, soft florals and caramel, it’s a cosy scent that feels perfectly suited to the festive season. It’s even made me curious about trying the fragrance itself.

The 10 Sephora-exclusive products are another selling point, because the calendar features formulas that you won’t find in any other countdown this year. It’s not a budget advent calendar by any means, and I wouldn’t suggest spending £235 just because the stated value exceeds £1,000. But for someone who regularly buys premium beauty products, enjoys testing new launches and will make use of a broad mix of skincare, makeup, haircare and fragrance, I think it makes a compelling case for the money.

Ultimately, this is the calendar I chose to buy with my own money in 2026, and after spending weeks weighing up the contents, I’m still really happy with that decision. If you’re looking for a luxury beauty countdown packed with recognisable brands, full-size favourites and new discoveries, the Sephora Advent Calendar deserves a place on your shortlist.
