With new eyebrows and a fresh haircut, it was only right I got a new manicure just in time for Christmas.
Nails at Bear Paws has been booked up for the festive period for weeks, and I was excited for a fresh set of Christmas claws.
I’ve been going to Leanne since August, and have had three amazing sets of nails, which have helped to grow my natural nails, as well as strengthen them.
I’ve been desperate to try out tortoise shell nails for the longest time, so I saved some designs on Instagram by Beauty Works By Amy and sent some ideas to Leanne.
GIRLS – one piece of advice, particularly this time of year, just take 10 minutes to bounce your mani ideas off your nail tech. It gives you more time to work magic in your actual appointment if your nail tech has an idea of what they’re doing.
Leanne and I drew up a design ready for the appointment so that we could jump right into it when I arrived at her beautiful home studio.
I chose green and gold to keep in with festive colours, but didn’t want to go too OTT with the Christmas theme as I wanted to keep the set on throughout January.
The design:
One – Jungle with gold foil
Two – Tortoise Shell (Glass Yellow, Mocha, African Sunset and Candy Coat black paint)
Three – Opal (Jungle, Diana, Milkyway and Art Deco)
Four – Leopard print (Jungle, Art Deco and Candy Coat black paint)
Thumb – Half opal, half tortoise
To start, Leanne removed my old set of stars before prepping my nails for the fresh set. This time, I had Builder in a Bottle (BIAB) gel put over my natural nails to keep them stronger for longer.
Once the BIAB was on and my nails were reshaped into their coffins, Leanne got stuck in with the mix and match design.
It took around an hour and 45 minutes in total and are 100% my favourite set so far. The opal and tortoise shell have so much depth and the flecks of gold add that festive feel I desperately wanted without being too out there.
