Why Dr Jart’s colour correcting cream is still a staple in my skincare routine

I discovered Dr Jart+ as a brand purely by chance – I was working for Boots at the time – about five years ago – and would always scour the clearance sections for bargain beauty buys. I stumbled across a beauty balm with a red £1 sticker, and applied my staff discount for another 12 per cent off – I figured if it wasn’t up to much, then I didn’t mind, as it would have cost me a total of 88p.

Fast forward to 2021, having ran out of my final beauty balm tubes, and I discovered a new holy grail product on my list: Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment. And it’s been a staple in my makeup bag ever since.

About Dr Jart+

On the very first day I opened the bottle of Dr Jart+ BB Beauty Balm, I instantly thought ‘that’s too dark for me’, but their innovative technology sees their products camouflage themselves into your complexion in a way that’s completely unexpected – but Dr Jart+ has always been an unexpected skincare brand.

Leeo (Chin Wook) Lee was an architect working in Seoul when he discovered a blemish balm used during professional facial treatments. The brand said: “The blemish balm was a skincare spot treatment, which also had the visual benefits of makeup. While the balm was only available in clinics, Leeo was inspired by how this hybrid product could simplify beauty routines. He left his career in architecture to pursue his idea, working with the labs until he had reinterpreted the blemish balm into a Dr.Jart+ BB Cream that brought skincare and makeup together in one simple step for consumers to use at home.”

Now, sixteen years later, Dr Jart+ is a skin-barrier expert brand, offering products that blur the line between makeup and skincare. One such product is currently taking social media by storm: The Cicapair™ Colour Correcting Treatment.

Dr Jart+ say this is their ‘hero product’, and having used it for myself, it’s easy to see why.

What is the Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment?

Dr Jart+ say: “Meet our multi-tasking hero. Innovative green-to-beige cream that adapts to skin’s natural colour to neutralise redness and even out skin tone. This all-in-one treatment covers blemishes and reduces the look of redness, reviving the appearance of fatigued skin for a vibrant look.”

The product is available in 15ml for £13, or 50ml for £37 – so I bought the smaller size to see if I got on okay with it first. The cult product is going viral on TikTok for leaving skin with the perfect no-makeup makeup look, looking smooth and reducing pigmentation.

The brand added: “It’s specially formulated with Tiger Grass and a skin-boosting blend of herbs, minerals, a moisturising humectant, and a probiotic ferment — to soothe, calm, and moisturise the look of skin.”

How to apply?

This thick green-tinted cream can be applied with your fingers, but for hygiene reasons, I tend to use a plastic spatula to scoop a small amount of product up. A little does go a long way, so start small and build up as needed. I dot the product in the areas I feel needs the most coverage, then gently blend in a circular motion watching the cream turn from green to nude.

Why I’m obsessed with the Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment

I’m not usually one to buy into hype, but I rate Dr Jart+ as a brand so the social media storm surrounding the Cicapair Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment was too tempting to not try it out for myself.

I was really surprised at the difference just a small amount of product made to my skin, blurring the dark circles and bumpiness under my eyes, and tackling redness around my nose and t-zone.

Not only does it leave my complexion looking smoother and healthier, it has a dewy-finish which you could leave as a base for the whole day, without the need for foundation. It’s not oily, or shiny, so you don’t need to use a powder or matte setting spray either. Alternatively, you can use the Dr Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment as a primer so your makeup sits smoother all day.

It’s utterly mesmerising to watch the product turn from sage to beige, then become a bit of a skin tone Chamaeleon to perfectly match your own shade. It doesn’t feel heavy or cakey on the skin, leaving a flawless finish that soothes sensitive skin and combats redness.

The product also acts as an environmental barrier, protecting the skin from the sun with SPF 30, as well as any air pollution, making it a great makeup/skincare hybrid product.

This is the ultimate skincare cupboard staple for summer. It takes minimal effort to apply for maximum results, making skin look noticeably more even, healthier and smoother. The dewy finish offers that ‘glowing from within’ look we all try to achieve in the warmer months. I’ve since gone on to investing in the 50ml pots because they work out much better value for money. The Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment has firmly made its way onto the small list of products I will forever repurchase.
