I purchased this month’s Birchbox so that I could test out the new Benefit Bad Gal BANG mascara.
I’ve heard incredibly mixed reviews about the product, and the image that Benefit used to promote the product received a lot of back lash (pardon the pun).
I wanted to see for myself and make my own decision.
I’ve been testing it out for just over a week now and I’m pretty impressed so far. It took a while to get the hang of using it, but so long as you work with the mascara it will provide you with the results you want.
Firstly, let’s talk about the applicator. The wand for bad gal bang is long and slim with quite a few teeth on the comb which I am happy about. I much prefer this style wand to the chunkier spoolie style ones. It’s also really flexible which helps grab those hard to reach lashes and gets in between each one.
The intense black pigment is darker than my soul. It’s so black, no wonder they said it’s out of this world. It’s so nice to have mascara that stands out on top of bold shadow looks and doesn’t fade into the background.
I think it’s a great lengthening mascara that can provide a wispy look. My lashes felt light and fluttery, but there’s a technique to achieving this look.
The mascara can be a little stubborn in that, you have to work with it, not against it. It’s formula is quite wet so you have to be careful of transfer and you have to work quite quickly. Let it dry and your lashes will be clump-tastic. One to two coats is your maximum before you start to head into the 90’s look. Other than that, I think it’s great.
Overall it’s a great mid-range mascara, but it may not be for everyone. I’d recommend buying the travel-size first, before commiting to a full-sized product.

Your eyelashes look amazing with this mascara, I’m not 100% on this mascara yet, still on the fence lol.

This mascara looks gorgeous on you! I also received this in my Birchbox but it doesn’t seem to give me as much va va voom like it does on other people. I’m going to keep using it though and maybe I’ll find the perfect technique to apply it and get some seriously big lashes! xx
I’ve got this mascara in mini form too, I was dubious as I didn’t really like the bad gal mascara, but I like it. Great post your makeup looks great x
I loved the sound of this and then was a little put off by all the mixed reviews. Although now I have seen this, I think I might give it a go. I love Benefit mascaras! x
I’ve heard so many mixed reviews but none as broken down as yours. The wetness of it really puts me off as I need to get ready and go!!

This makes your eyelashes look amazing! I’m still unsure whether or not to make the purchase of this, I purely want to try it for the wand applicator as its something totally different to what I’m used to.

I’ve never really been a fan of Benefit mascara’s. I’m more a too faced kind of gal. Benefit are just one of those brands that I find overhyped.
This looks so nice on your lashes! I love how it’s made them look! I’m so on the fence about this mascara so I think I’ll stick to my Tarte ones!
