Cake delivered through the letterbox? Gimme.

Last year my friend Anya sent me some Bloom and Wild letterbox flowers. It was such a cool concept sending a bouquet through the post box. Can you imagine my excitement when I realised there was a company that could sent cake through your letterbox? Allow me to introduce you to bakerdays.

Cake is at the heart of everything, amiright? Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or ‘just because’ – I’m very much a ‘just because’ kinda gal.

My blog turned two years old a couple of days ago, and bakerdays kindly sent me this beautiful cake to help me celebrate. I mean, I will literally use any excuse to eat cake!

The fab team at bakerdays designed this floral decorated cake for me, personalising it for my blog. It came through the letterbox and I practically had the postie’s hands off (before the dogs could!)

The cakes come in a little tin, inside a cardboard box to ensure it doesn’t get squished in transit. The cakes are made that very day to ensure it’s as fresh as can be when it gets to you.

My letterbox cake was a victoria sponge with jam and cream, covered with my personalised icing. I love the fact it’s relatively small (because it totally means you have an excuse to eat it all to yourself). I always find big birthday cakes get cut up, shoved in the fridge and forgotten about before it’s too late. There are also options to have chocolate, lemon drizzle and more – including gluten ad dairy free options.

I was practically drooling over this cake whilst I was photographing it. You know when your nan/mum/whoever bakes at home and you walk into a kitchen that smells of absolute heaven? That’s that these cakes smell of. Home-made love.
