How to make a Spicy Rosé Margarita with the viral ‘chicken wine’

As summer heats up, there’s no better way to cool down than with a refreshing cocktail that perfectly balances fruity flavours with a hint of spice. Enter the Rosé Margarita, a delicious twist on my favourite tipple that’s perfect for the warmer weather. Whether you’re hosting a summer soirée or simply unwinding after a long day, the Rosé Margarita is set to become a go-to cocktail for any occasion.

What makes this cocktail particularly special is its key ingredient: La Vieille Ferme Rosé, also known as the viral TikTok ‘chicken wine’. This Partner in Wine-approved rosé is so fresh and fruity, making it the ultimate accompaniment to the tangy lime and smooth tequila, creating a drink that’s as sophisticated as it is easy to make.

And for anyone who loves a picante, the addition of jalapeño slices adds a spicy kick. So, grab your shaker and get ready to impress your friends and family with this irresistible summer sip.

Rosé Margarita Cocktail with Jalapeño Garnish

Ingredients:

  • 30ml tequila
  • Fresh juice from half a line
  • 25ml simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Rosé wine
  • Ice
  • Coarse salt for rimming the glass
  • Fresh jalapeño slices for garnish

Instructions:

First prepare the glass, which you can either do by running lime wedge around the rim of your glass, or by using something like simple syrup/honey. Then dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt to coat – I use this one from Amazon – and set it aside.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice before adding a shot of tequila (or make it a double, if you prefer), with the fresh lime juice and simple syrup. Shake well until the mixture is chilled. Alternatively, to save time and cut down on mess and costs, you could opt for a premixed margarita cocktail bottle or can – you can find my favourites in this roundup.

Fill the prepared glass with ice and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass before topping it up with the rosé wine. La Vieille Ferme Rosé is such a great choice for this cocktail due to its fresh and fruity flavours, including  red fruits, juicy nectarine and blood orange. These really complement the citrusy lime in a margarita, creating a well-balanced and tasty blend.

What’s more is that the La Vieille Ferme Rosé is incredibly accessible and affordable, available at Sainsbury’s for £8.50 a bottle, which makes it easy to find and a convenient option for home bartenders.

I finished by garnishing with a few jalapeño slices for a spicy kick. The addition of the peppers slices adds a touch of fire to the classic rosé margarita, perfect for those who enjoy a bit of heat in their cocktails. Adjust the number of jalapeño slices to control the spice level.

Then all that’s really left to do is snap a photo for Instagram, serve and enjoy your refreshing and slightly spicy rosé margarita!
