Payday picks: everything I’ve hit ‘add to basket’ to this month

March is almost here, bringing longer days, a hint of spring in the air, and, most importantly, payday. Naturally, I’ve been compiling a fresh wishlist of fashion, beauty, and homeware finds to splurge my February wages on – but before I get into that, let’s talk about some of the pieces I’ve been loving in recent weeks.

First up, I finally got my hands on the Elemis Black Cherry Cleansing Balm featured last month, and it’s even better than I imagined. If you’re already a fan of the original, this one has the same luxurious, melt-away texture but with the most divine cherry scent. It turns my evening skincare routine into a delicious at-home spa moment. I also treated myself to the M&S Dream Satin Pyjamas, and they are as dreamy as the name suggests. The bow print is gorgeous and they make lounging around feel extra special.

On the fashion front, my best buy last month was hands down the Adidas SL-72s in leopard print. They’re effortlessly cool, surprisingly easy to style, and are a quick way to jazz up even the most basic outfits. I also picked up some green striped trousers and a spicy margarita top from Next, which have been injecting some much-needed colour into my wardrobe. The high street retailer really is smashing it at the moment.

Beauty-wise, I’ve been obsessed with the Laura Mercier Vanilla Bath Oil for a little at-home spa indulgence, and the Sacheu lip stay-n liners have been my go-to for longlasting lip combos that don’t need reapplying.

But, a fresh month means the high street is once again teeming with newness and now that payday has arrived, my wishlist is looking strong. From timeless wardrobe staples to little luxuries for the home, here’s what I’m eyeing up this month.

Sezane Clyde Trench Coat – £275

This oversized gingham trench coat is a perfect transitional piece as we move towards spring and it’s been all over my Instagram since it launched. No-one does Parisian chic like Sezane, and with its water-repellent fabric, classic collar, and statement plaid print, it’s an investment piece that pairs quality tailoring with personality and timeless elegance.

ASOS DESIGN Ruched Shoulder Bag – Now £18 (was £24)

Cheating slightly on this one because I have already ordered it. I love a good ruched detail, and this shoulder bag with an adjustable bow fastening is a steal at 25% off. Now £18, it’s a great way to add a pop of red to your outfit and it is strikingly similar to some of Damson Madder’s styles but for a fraction of the price. It also has the benefit of an interior compartment, ideal for keeping your lippy or bank card safe.

Boden Jessie Frill Collared Cardigan – £120

Collared cardigans are everywhere right now, and this one is next-level cute. The scallop detailing on the cuffs and collar makes it feel super feminine while the poppy red and sorbet pink stripe makes it a bold statement piece. At £120 it is definitely more spenny than I’d usually spend on knitwear but Boden’s pieces are always so beautifully made and last years if taken care of. And if you’re not keen on the red and pink colourway, it also comes in plain pink or ivory and duckegg blue.

Next Orange Stripe Brushed Knitted T-Shirt – £34

Eyed this up a couple of times now, even trying it on in store and left it on the hanger only to regret it. This orange and blue striped retro-inspired tee with mid-length raglan sleeves and brushed knit fabric is a bit marmite, but I am firmly in the ‘love’ camp. This is great for layering under an oversized blazer or wearing with slouchy midwash denim jeans for a casual, ‘90s-inspired vibe. The third time I went in store, it finally came home with me. Next really has upped their game recently and I’m here for it.

M&S Linen Rich Tie Side Tank Top – £29.50

I’m manifesting warm weather with this linen-rich tank top. I adore the buttery yellow shade and the side tie detail makes it feel extra stylish. It’s one of those basics you just know you’ll reach for constantly once spring fully arrives. It can be worn on its own with shorts for a summer holiday fit, or with a white t-shirt underneath and jeans for a cooler day. While a blue denim is a match made in heaven, I think leopard print or chocolate and burgundy tones will work really well with this, too.

Next Chocolate Brown Suede Cowboy Boots – £59

Cowboy boots are still having a major moment, and I cannot stop thinking about these chocolate brown suede boots. The ultimate blend of Western-inspired and wearable, they’re £59 and real suede, which feels reasonable. The stitched panelling and a pointed toe gives them a stunning silhouette. The side zip makes them easy to pull on and off and a Forever Comfort cushioned footbed makes them mega comfortable to wear. I already have multiple longer pairs of cowboy boots and wear them constantly, but I feel like a shorter pair would be ideal for styling with jeans or summer dresses.

ASOS DESIGN Denim Bow Dress – Now £11 (was £36)

This square-neck denim dress with tie straps is an absolute bargain at £11. It’s the kind of easy, throw-on piece that you can wear alone or over blouses with statement collars, t-shirts – pretty much anything. Style it with tights and loafers, or bare legs in the warmer weather. What’s more is that it will work just as well for brunch as it will for a summer holiday, making it a real wardrobe workhorse. I especially love the tie straps which you can tie at the top, front or back for a different look, too.

Oliver Bonas Olive Martini Glasses – £29.50

I am obsessed with these martini glasses. The wide green stems and little glass olive cocktail picks make them feel so playful and have a vintage feel to them. They are perfect for hosting or just treating myself to a fancy Friday night drink, but equally OB glassware makes for a gorgeous gift, perhaps for a bestie’s birthday or housewarming present.

Urban Outfitters Sardines Bath Mat – £32

Jake and I are no closer to a move-in date yet, and the bathroom is the last room in the house we’ll be decorating, but taking a look at homeware won’t hurt, will it? Urban Outfitters has some amazing pieces in, like this novelty sardine print bath mat. Quirky, fun, and a great way to add some personality to a bathroom – because why should your bath mat be boring?

Guerlain Rouge G Customisable Lipstick – £32

I’ve been desperate to get my hands on one of Guerlain’s Rouge G lipsticks – particularly their tortoise shell case. I love how customisable these are, with a variety of cases and shades to choose from. You can even get the case engraved, which is a lovely keepsake. The case I want has been out of stock for some time and I’m still undecided which shade of lipstick to go for. I’m vying for a versatile, everyday nude so that I have the excuse to use it at every opportunity.
