For the third year in a row I’ve had the absolute pleasure of taking a peek inside the Arran Sense of Scotland Perfume and Fragrance Advent Calendar, and this year is undoubtedly their best yet. Arran has truly captured the winter wonderland atmosphere with this calendar, creating a comforting and cosy countdown perfect for anyone in need of some self-care this season.
Priced at £80, the calendar is packed with an array of indulgent bath, body, and home fragrance products valued at over £180. The book-style design feels luxurious and inviting, which is a lovely reflection of the Scottish landscapes that inspired it. It really does make you want to sit in front of a crackling fire with a tartan blanket to unbox it.
A recurring bestseller, the calendar boasts 25 doors, behind which shoppers will find a little slice of Scottish indulgence, with Arran having curated a real mix of practical and pampering products that showcase some of their best-loved scents. My all-time favourite fragrance from the brand has to be After The Rain, which is a blend of lime, rose and sandalwood. I’ve treasured the products from this range after discovering it in a previous advent calendar, and regularly find myself drawn to the warm and inviting perfume, so it was lovely to restock my near-empty bottle with a new one from the 2024 countdown. The scent is fresh yet comforting, the small bottle manages to last quite a while. This is definitely a highlight for those who love woodsy, clean fragrances with a hint of floral.
Seven out of the 25 products in the calendar are from the After The Rain collection. As well as the perfume, there’s also a shampoo and conditioner, soap, shower gel, body lotion and a candle. It feels like Arran really understands their customers and has given them what they know they’ll love, which leans into the popular fragrance, but also introduces them to new and exciting scents, as well as limited edition creations that you can’t buy anywhere else.
The two limited-edition fragrances, Winter Forest and Rowanberry Embers, come in the form of votive candles, and add a festive touch with warm, wintry aromas – ideal for creating a peaceful, festive ambiance.
And while it was lovely to get reacquainted with the likes of Glenashdale, Seaweed & Sage, Lochranza and Kildonan, it was new-comer Sannox – the brand’s first ‘premium men’s fragrance collection’ – that I fell in love with. The Shower Gel boasts notes of leather, amber and oud and is right up my street. I’ve been eyeing up the 50ml perfume on the website ever since.
Another product I’ve not seen in the calendar before is the Glen Rosa Hydrating Hand Cream. With a rich, moisturising formula, this hand cream is a dream for winter skin. The scent is delicate and soothing, and it leaves hands feeling soft without any greasy residue, ensuring my festive manicures will last through the party season.
Beyond my top picks, the calendar is filled with a thoughtfully chosen mix of full-size and mini products that cover a range of Arran’s offerings, from soaps and body lotions to scented candles and mini eau de toilettes. The shampoos, conditioners and shower gels in particular are the perfect size for taking on holidays or weekends away. Equally, products in the same fragrance family, like Glenashdale or Seaweed & Sage, can be bundled up and make lovely little gift sets that can be given to friends and family teamed with a little washbag.
