My kinda brunch isn’t avo on toast or eggs bene… it’s waffles stacked with breakfast goods, or pancakes smothered in summer berries.
That’s why, for me, there’s no better place to brunch than at a dessert shop.
Sweet Hanley has recently launched a mouth-watering brunch menu that they’re serving from 12-4.
Jake and I decided to go and try it out over the weekend and boy, were we in for a treat.
Prepare to drool all over your phone.
Jake went for The Big Feast from the new brunch menu, but since I had a sweet tooth (pardon the pun) and went for the Bueno waffle, since Kinder Buenos are my all-time fave.
The Big Feast comprises of a stack of waffles or toast loaded with turkey rashers, chorizo, turkey ham, egg and mushroom. If that wasn’t enough, the throw in a side of cheesy beans.
The toast is cooked on the waffle machine, leaving it beautifully golden with little waffle indents. The two runny eggs ooze over the triple decked sandwich and the whole thing is just amazing. I had definite food envy.
I went for a sweet treat, what Sweet Hanley have always been amazing at. Their Bueno waffle features a huge American style waffle that is as light as air and so fluffy. It is topped with white and milk chocolate as well as Bueno pieces. On the side there is a dash of whipped cream and a scoop of creamy vanilla gelato.
It’s magical, but not for the faint-hearted. I only managed half before collapsing into a food coma as I sipped my Bueno hot chocolate (also topped with a Bueno finger).
Our server was an absolute angel and need a blooming round of applause. She was working on her own waiting tables, making dishes and all the drinks – she was like wonderwoman. She regularly kept us up to date with the status of our food and generally made our experience great.
As well as a delicious new brunch menu, the diner has some offers that aren’t to be missed, including 10% student discount, £4 panini and hot drink deal and best of all, 2-4-1 cookie dough on Tuesdays!
When you’re done, you can then pop over the road to intu Potteries for some shopping, or down to The Hive to watch a movie at Cineworld. It’s the ultimate date package.
